Opportunities and Challenges

Why?

Over the next 5 years, Africa is poised to become one of the largest markets for investment by European businesses

Potential

There is an explosive consumer market growth in the use of mobile technology.  1 in 5 of young Africans have bought a product or service with their mobile phone and 7 out of 10 of them use social media sites on their mobile phones. Nigeria is the largest market in Africa and the 7thmost populous country in the world.  It is bestowed with numerous mineral and natural resources, with a rich culture of trade.
The promotion of anti-corruption practices and entrepreneurial activities from the grassroots up creates an enabling environment for microfinance

Challenge

Despite the impressive market potential, there remains a large untapped informal market that has no access to capital. Furthermore, many microfinance institutions fail due to poor loan quality, default in loan repayment, high transaction costs, lack of social infrastructure and management deficiencies.

Goal

GiveCare will leverage technology to create greater access to capital and facilitate better business management for women at the bottom of the pyramid.
